My name is Mila, and I’m the founder of SOAPY as well as our luxury line known as “Naturals by Mila.” While my home has changed, the heart and soul of our brand remain deeply connected to my heritage, my love for nature, and an unwavering commitment to pure, gentle skincare.

Roots in the Garden: My Ukrainian Heritage

My earliest memories are steeped in the traditions of my grandmother’s garden in Ukraine. There, I learned not just to grow plants, but to understand their healing properties. Every herb, every flower, held a secret to health and well-being. It was a world where remedies came from the earth, and skincare was about nurturing, not just masking. This invaluable knowledge became the foundation of everything I do today.

When I moved to the United States, eventually settling in the beautiful community of Holland, Michigan, I brought these cherished traditions with me. The rich soils and vibrant seasons of West Michigan reminded me so much of home, and it felt like the perfect place to cultivate my passion.

As my small business grew, so did my vision. I realized that to truly convey the essence of what we do – the purity, the care, the simplicity – a refreshed identity was needed. Our choice to fully rebrand SOAPY was born out of a profound personal struggle. A few years ago, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia—a chronic condition characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and sleep issues. For me, it meant waking up every single day to high pain levels that felt like a constant, invisible fire throughout my body. I realized that my system was in a state of perpetual inflammation, reacting to the smallest environmental triggers.

This diagnosis was a wake-up call; I couldn’t just focus on what I was eating—I had to look at what I was putting on my skin. I began a mission to strip away every synthetic chemical and hidden irritant from my life. I started switching our product formulations to be strictly anti-inflammatory, utilizing botanicals I grew organically in my own garden and infusing them at home to ensure total purity. SOAPY’s rebranding represents this commitment to medical-grade naturalism. It matters to me because I know exactly what it’s like to navigate a world that feels “too loud” for your nervous system.
